Why Google Business Matters

Google reviews are the first thing potential guests see when they search for accommodation. Properties with a 4.5+ star rating on Google earn significantly more direct bookings because high ratings act as an instant trust signal. By connecting your Google Business Profile to Tamu, you can monitor your reputation, request reviews from happy guests, and respond to feedback — all from one dashboard.

Properties with 4.5+ Google ratings see up to 35% more direct booking enquiries compared to those below 4.0.

Connect Your Google Business Profile

  1. Log in to Tamu and go to /owner/property
  2. Scroll down to the Google Business section
  3. Enter your Google Place ID or search for your property by name
  4. Verify the correct property is selected from the search results
  5. Click Save

How to find your Google Place ID: Search for your property on Google Maps, copy the URL, and look for the long string after place/ in the URL. Alternatively, use Google's Place ID Finder.

Review Tracking

Once your Google Business Profile is connected, Tamu automatically tracks your Google reputation.

  • Your Google rating and review count appear on your owner dashboard
  • Data is updated daily so you always have a current snapshot
  • Track rating trends over time to see how your reputation is improving

Request Guest Reviews

Tamu makes it easy to turn happy guests into Google reviewers with a two-step review flow.

  1. After a guest checks out, Tamu sends an automated review request email
  2. The guest leaves a review on Tamu first
  3. After submitting their Tamu review, the guest is prompted to also leave a review on Google with a direct link to your Google Business Profile
  4. Track review request status on your Reviews page

WhatsApp Review Nudges

For guests who haven't responded to the email review request, send a friendly WhatsApp nudge.

  1. Go to your Reviews page
  2. Look for bookings with pending nudges — these are guests who checked out but haven't left a review yet
  3. Click Send WhatsApp Nudge to open a pre-composed WhatsApp message asking the guest to leave a Google review
  4. The message includes a direct link to your Google review page — one tap for the guest

Timing matters

Send WhatsApp nudges within 48 hours of checkout for the best response rate. After a week, guests are much less likely to leave a review.

Tips for Better Reviews

Respond to every review

Google rewards active businesses. Reply to both positive and negative reviews within 24 hours to show guests you care.

Ask at checkout

The best time to ask for a review is right after a great stay. Tamu sends automated review requests, but a personal ask goes a long way.

Make it easy

Tamu generates a direct Google review link for your property. Share it in your checkout message or print a QR code for the front desk.

Keep your profile updated

Add fresh photos, update your hours, and respond to questions on your Google Business Profile regularly.
